In an exciting return to familiar territory, Viaje founder Andre Farkas has once again partnered with Joya de Nicaragua, marking the rekindling of a partnership that dates back over a decade. The result of this collaboration is “Roots,” the sixth installment in Viajeβs celebrated Craft Series. This new creation is set to hit retailers’ shelves on Monday, offering cigar enthusiasts a chance to experience a blend that speaks directly to Farkas’ personal taste.
The last time Viaje and Joya de Nicaragua worked together was in 2007 with the creation of the Viaje Oro. Since then, the two companies had gone their separate ways, making the reunion for Roots a noteworthy event in the cigar world. When asked why he chose Joya de Nicaragua for this project, Farkas cited his long-standing admiration for the factory’s work, specifically the AntaΓ±o blend. “I had always loved the AntaΓ±o. That blend hits my profile dead center. It only made sense to try to work with a factory that made a cigar that I loved,” Farkas explained.
Roots is crafted in a singular Toro size, measuring 6 inches by 52 ring gauge. The cigar boasts an Ecuador Habano wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and a filler blend of premium tobaccos sourced from Nicaragua, Brazil, and the United States. Each cigar is carefully wrapped in foil and packaged in 10-count boxes, with a retail price of $11 per cigar or $110 per box.
Viajeβs Craft Series, which began in 2018, has become known for its unique and innovative cigars, with previous releases such as Bales on Bales and For the Love of the Leaf garnering attention from aficionados. Roots continues this tradition, offering a blend that not only honors Viaje’s history but also showcases the expertise of Nicaragua’s oldest cigar factory.
