Manifatture Sigaro Toscano, more widely recognized as Toscano Cigars, has joined forces with the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) to introduce a new cigar that marks a significant departure from the Italian brand’s usual offerings. Toscano, known for its rustic, distinctive smokes, typically diverges from the norm of handmade cigars commonly found in the cigar industry. Most Toscano cigars are machine-made and incorporate fire-cured tobacco, a characteristic that sets them apart from other cigars in the market. However, their latest release, the Toscano Brenta, breaks this tradition by featuring a blend of air-cured tobaccoβa first for the storied Italian company.
A New Blend for a New Era
The Toscano Brenta is not only unique for its tobacco blend but also for its construction. Unlike Toscanoβs machine-made cigars, which are often made without a binder leaf, the Brenta is crafted with one, adding complexity and depth to the smoke. This cigar, designed to be stored in a humidor, represents a significant evolution in Toscanoβs approach to cigar making.
The cigar is entirely composed of Habano-seed tobacco known as Nostrano del Brenta, which is cultivated in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy. These premium tobaccos are then hand-rolled in Campese, also located in northern Italy, continuing Toscanoβs tradition of craftsmanship while incorporating new elements.
The Toscano Brenta: A Nod to Tradition with a Modern Twist
While the Toscano Brenta cigars embrace the company’s iconic truncated cone shape, they come in a more compact form, measuring approximately 4 1/8 inches in length with a 56 ring gauge. This blend of tradition and innovation is likely to appeal to both long-time Toscano fans and new enthusiasts alike.
This new release is not Toscanoβs first venture into handmade cigars. The company has previously produced hand-rolled smokes such as the Originale, Duecento, and Nobile. However, the Toscano Brenta stands out as a unique offering due to its blend and method of production.
A Partnership Rooted in Heritage
The collaboration between Toscano and PCA for the Brenta cigar reflects a continuation of a long-standing relationship rather than the beginning of a new one. “We have collaborated successfully in various activities for years and continue to do so with determination,” says Luciano Simeone, sales director for Toscano Cigars. This ongoing partnership highlights the synergy between Toscanoβs rich Italian heritage and the American premium cigar market, a fusion that is embodied in the Toscano Brenta.
Joshua Habursky, executive director of the PCA, expressed his gratitude for the collaboration, noting, “We are grateful to Toscano for helping us relaunch the PCA Product Hub with such a special project. This project maintains the rich Italian heritage of Toscano Cigars with influences of the American premium cigar market.”
Limited Availability and Exclusive Release
The Toscano Brenta cigars will initially be available exclusively through PCAβs Product Hub, a retail sales platform for the association. Following a debut event in Arlington, Virginia, on September 25, the cigars will be offered exclusively to PCA members from September 26 to October 11. After this period, the Brenta cigars will be available to the general public through Toscanoβs global distribution network. Toscanoβs largest markets include Italy, Germany, and Spain, where the cigars are expected to be well-received.
Only 1,000 boxes of Toscano Brenta cigars have been produced, each containing 20 cigars. The limited-edition boxes will carry a suggested retail price of $180 per box, or $9 per cigar.
