Punch Golden Era Gets A Lancero

The Honduran brand dedicated to Corojo-seed tobacco now boasts a new, slender size. Last year, General Cigar Co. partnered with the Eiroa family to create Punch Golden Era, honoring Corojo-seed tobacco grown in Honduras. Recently, they added a Lancero to the line, and the slim smoke is available now.

The Corojo tobacco in Punch Golden Era comes from a 650-acre farm owned by the Eiroa family in Honduras’ Jamastran Valley. This specific tobacco is grown from non-hybrid seeds that originated in Cuba’s famed El Corojo farm. Apart from some Habano leaves in the filler, the cigars predominantly feature Corojo. Despite the seed’s origins, all the tobacco in Punch Golden Era is Honduran.

Punch Golden Era History

Corojo was first developed in the 1930s at Cuba’s El Corojo farm and became the wrapper of choice for Cuban cigars. However, it fell out of favor due to the emergence of more disease-resistant, higher-yielding varietals. By the year 2000, the seed was retired.

Punch Golden Era Lancero Specifications:

  • Size: 7 inches (178 mm) by 38 ring gauge
  • Price: $10.99

The Lancero joins three other sizes in the Punch Golden Era line: Robusto, Toro, and Churchill. The entire line is rolled at the Fabrica de Puros Aladino S.A. factory in Honduras. General Cigar Co. describes these cigars as mild to medium-bodied, perfect for those who appreciate a balanced and flavorful smoke.

The new Lancero size not only highlights the rich history of Corojo-seed tobacco but also offers a unique smoking experience. Whether you are a long-time fan or new to the Punch Golden Era line, this Lancero is a worthy addition to your collection.
