OZ Family Cigars has expanded its portfolio with a third regular-production line in response to customer demand for a milder cigar. Named Firsat, which translates to “opportunity” in Turkish, the new line reflects the heritage of brand owner Tim Ozgener, who is of Turkish and Armenian descent. The cigars began shipping last week.
Debut and Production Details
Originally displayed at this year’s PCA trade show, Firsat was expected to launch by April. However, delays in box production pushed the release date back. Fortunately, the line is now available.
The Casa Carrillo factory in the Dominican Republic produces Firsat. The cigar features a high-priming Connecticut-seed wrapper from Ecuador, an Ecuador Habana binder, and Nicaraguan filler. Notably, some of this filler comes from the island of Ometepe.
Varieties and Pricing
Firsat is available in four sizes:
- F52: 5 inches by 52 ring gauge ($12.25)
- F55: 5 1/2 inches by 55 ring gauge ($13.25)
- F60: 6 inches by 60 ring gauge ($14.50)
- F54: 7 inches by 54 ring gauge ($14)
Ozgenerβs Bosphorus line is box-pressed, and the Aramas line is round. In contrast, Firsat offers a βsoft press,β providing a unique experience between the two.
Launch and Availability
So far, only 42 boxes of the F54 size have shipped. The remaining stock should be distributed by the end of July. Two soft launches took place in Turkey. The first was on June 11 at Peat & Sherry, and the second on June 13 at SwissΓ΄tel, located on both the Asian and European sides of Istanbul.
Looking Forward
Cigar Insider will feature a detailed rating in a future issue for those eager to see how Firsat fares among cigar enthusiasts. This new line promises to provide a milder smoking experience. Thus, it meets the demand for variety within the OZ Family Cigars portfolio.
