The new Cohiba is 5 3/4 inches long with a 53-ring gauge. This size is brand new for the Cohiba brand but is similar to the Trinidad Esmeralda. One standout feature is its pigtail cap, a detail often seen in Cohibaβs special editions, like the Behike line and limited releases such as the TalismΓ‘n and 1966.
Perfect for Travelers
This cigar isnβt just about the smoke. It comes in a luxurious 10-count travel humidor, making it a perfect item for those who are always on the go. The cigar was revealed in Cannes, France, at the Tax-Free World Association Exhibition & Conference, an event for luxury brands.
The Importance of Travel Retail
According to Habanos S.A. co-president Luis SanchΓ©z-Harguindey, this release highlights the growing importance of travel retail for Cuban cigars. He stated, βWe have launched exclusive formats, selecting iconic vitolas and developing presentations that are true works of art, such as travel humidors and collectorβs editions.β
The travel retail segment grew by almost 8% in 2023 and now makes up 19% of Habanosβ market value. This new Cohiba is designed to strengthen that part of the business.
Expected High Price
Habanos S.A. has not shared the exact price for this new cigar. However, given the recent trends in Cuban cigar pricing, it’s expected to be high. Cohiba cigars have been pushing the $100 mark in recent months, particularly for special editions.
